Bug Report - Web Access Login with certain characters in password cause browser error "Server Error in '/RDWeb/Pages' Application"

$

I have found that since trying a certain password logging into the Web Access for RDS 2012 R2, an error is generated.
It doesn't crash the server it just causes an error for the user logging in.
Sign in either as with domain\username, or upn, and using the password ")<bJKq<5" without the quotes, doesn't report wrong password but instead gives the error "Server Error in '/RDWeb/Pages' Application"

This happens whether you enter the password for anyone trying to login.

Server Farm in Server 2012 authorization errors.

Hi All,

I believe I installed a server farm. I'm getting the following error: "The connection was denied because the user account is not authorized for remote login".

the user accounts are explicitly allowed in the server collection. I don't understand why Im getting this.

My setup is. 1 machine that has only the broker and web access role installed and 3 machines that have only the host role installed joined in the pool for the farm.

Any pointers ?

Thanks,

Jerry

Cloned VM throws back licensing mode errors after reinstalling RDS

$

Hello all.

This is a vmware environment. I cloned a machine that had RDS installed. The original has the host, borker, session, and licensing roles installed. The interesting thing is that in the licensing manager there is nothing there because im guessing that my"...credentials have sufficient privileges on the license server."

Now when I cloned it and booted on I noticed that the broker, session, and host roles had errors, so I had to remove these roles and re-install again. Another interesting thing to point out was that the licensing role was not installed in the clone but was in the orginal. However now I'm getting this extremely annoying message: "Remote desktop services wills top working because this computer is past its licensing grace period. On the RD connection Broker server, use SErver Manager to specify the remote desktop licensing mode and the license server.

Well.... I've done exactly this and set it to Per User and pointed it to the licensing server which still has many seats open.

This damn message keeps appearing even after applying the settings it suggests.

I've reinstalled and uninstalled an infinite amount of time already.

Thank You,

Jerry

Rollback not being performed on fresh Pooled Virtual Desktop Collection on fresh RDS deployment

I have had a 100% functional RDS VDI proof of connect running for over 6 months, with all operations working as expected with regard to Pooled and Private Collections, as well as RemoteApp sessions, so I know what a good working topology looks like.

Fast forward to now - I am building the same, albeit larger topology for production use, and migrating the POC templates over to create new collections in production. I have my fist collection setup and ready to go, but no matter what I do, the VMs will not roll back after logging out. To confirm this, I placed a New Folder on the desktop, and sure enough, it was there when I reconnected a few minutes later.

I can watch the Hyper-V manager, and I never see the VM I got assigned to by the broker recover from the RDV_ROLLBACK checkpoint. This is so weird as everything else works perfectly.

Any ideas before I have to call in to create a support case on this??

Redirected USB, driver won't install

WS2012 RDSH with RemoteApps published via WS2012 RDCB. Windows 7 client with RDS 8.1.

RemoteFX USB Redirection enabled for "Imaging Devices" and a scanner with the same Device Class GUID (Brother ADS-1500W) is connected to the client PC, and works, locally. WHQL Driver is installed on the RDSH.

The device does redirect into the RemoteApp session, but its icon in Devices and Printers has statuses "Driver is unavailable" and "Driver error". In DevMgmt.msc, it shows up as "Other Device", and on the General tab of its properties, says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).

If I click Update Driver it doesn't find a driver, and if I navigate to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and let it scan all subfolders, it doesn't find it either. I can see the drivers are installed to subfolders of FileRepository.

What else can I try?

Thanks!

0xC000035B error when trying use remoteapp from window 7 RDP 8.1 and connect to a 2012 R2 session host through 2012 R2 gateway

Hello,

For only one user currently, there is an issue where a user logs in from windows 7 machine and tries to connect to windows 2012 R2 session host server through a 2012 r2 gateway and receives 'login attempt failed' no matter what user tries to log in to RDWeb from the machine.

They first logon to rdweb which works fine. Once, they click on an app, security dialog box pop up with 'log in attempt failed'.

I did notice an error in the security log on the gateway server. The error had unknown user and password....0xC000035B error.

My research has pointed me to this doc...https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2903333, referring to the NTLM version coming from the client. The gateway server has the 'enforcechannelbinding' set to 0 as mentioned.

The client is running windows 7 with the latest client RDC 8.1 with RDP 8.1 supported. I double checked on that.

I did try to force NTLMv2 in security policy 'send ntlmv2 responses only', but that didn't work. Once I did switch to this, it did give me a different error though..... '......remote desktop gateway is temporary unavailable'

Is there another reason that I missing that could be the cause for the 0xC000035B security audit failure log on the gateway?

Delete Session ID in redirected printers (or rename printers) (Terminal server 2008 server)

Hello,

i have an apliction which needs two printers with a fix name. So when i connect from a Terminal server client my Printers name are:

PRINTERX (redirected IDSESSION) where IDSESSION is not fix number.

There are any way to rename  the redirected printers (using or not Easy Printer) in Terminal Server 2008.

I'm using scrips but the systems tell me that i haven't peremissions (but I`m system administrator)

There are any way, modifin register (regedit.exe) or using directives to do  that the name of redirected printer goes to:

PRINTERX (redirected), PRINTERX (redirected USERX), or simply PRINTERX

Thanks!!!

Creating Desktop Collections Hang : Server 2012r2 STD

$

Hi,

Im having issues publishing VDI assigned / pooled desktop collections.

There are three servers, lets call them server 1, 2, and 3.

When I try to either add to, or create collections, the process hangs with a "pending status" on server 1 and 3. Server 2 is always successful.

This just started happening. I have published 3 collections successfully prior to this. I have not made any changes (that Im aware of) to the servers.

I have turned on Debug logging and cannot find any relevant information. I am bound by an ITAR restriction and will have to scrub any logs that I share. But there are not many.

As far as i can see nothing is really being reported, its as if the system thinks the publish process is moving along, but its not. Interestingly enough after about 24 hrs I will cancel the task and then I will see an error in eventvwr that says "operation failed, reason - Canceled by user"

I have checked permissions on the drives and I have checked the export locations. I have gone as far as rebuilding the master template from scratch, even though server 2 publishes successfully.  I have changed the export location and the results are the same.

Im trying to get this working because my company wants to see a more native MS solution to VDI.

Any advice would be grateful and if I have missed any crucial information I will gladly respond with what I can.

I attached a couple screen shots to show you what it looks like and the RDS roles that are installed

UPDATE: MSDN will not allow me to attach images until my account is verified.

UPDATE:

I was able to pull a specific warning from eventvwr, Im not sure if this is related or not
"RD Connection Broker could not complete a remote procedure call to the Hyper-V server"

Windows 10 and Remote Web Workplace RDP

Hello.

I am having problems with having a Windows 10 PC access a workstation via RDP through Remote Web Workplace running on SBS 2008.  When the Windows 10 PC tries to access the workstation a dialog box appears:

  1. Title:  VBScript Remote Desktop Connection
  2. Message:  The wizard cannot configure Remote Desktop Connection settings.  Make sure that the client version of Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on this computer.

The Windows 10 PC can access the same workstation without problems when they are not "remote" from each other---just not through the Remote Web Workplace.

Any thoughts?

Problem with page size when using redirected printer

$

I have a customer who connects to another customer's network via VPN, then logs into and RDS server running Server 2012.

This customer then opens an Excel file and tries to print it out to a printer that is local to her and of course shows as redirected when looking at Devices and Printers in her login on the RDS server.

The problem is that when going to File / Print on the Excel document, the page size is listed as Custom Size and if you try to select any other size from the list, it won't accept it and stays at custom size. If she selects another redirected local printer, she can choose whatever page size she wants.

This is not selecting the paper size. She can change that on either redirected printer. So when she is trying to print an Excel file on legal size paper, the print comes out reduced as if it is trying to print on letter size paper even though legal size paper is selected.

I hope my description is clear enough. If not, please let me know and I'll try to explain further. So I'm trying to find how to fix this one redirected printer (a Brother MFC-7860DW) so that she can change the page size so when the document prints it occupies the full sheet of legal size paper.

User cant manage their own redirected printer in Terminal Session

$

Hello all!

I have a problem that is driving me nuts for a week now. - On Windows Server 2012 installation I have Terminal Server and some users. All neatly managed in AD, GPOs, etc.

The problem is that the user can't manage their own redirected printer. When I get into printer properties, any setting on advanced is grayed out.

Even if I give the user admin privileges or click open as admin, everythign there is grayed out.

I tired turning off GPOs, disabling Easy Printing, etc. Nothing worked.

I have never experienced this kind of problem before, and don't know where to start. Any help is appreciated - if you need more details, just ask!

Thanks!

Manage Redirected Printer Defaults

$

I need to change the default of redirected printers from color to b&w.  However, in Print Management i get "access denied" when i try to change the default of the redirected printer.

Here is a copy of a separate thread from someone who asked a similar question that appears to be on the right track of how to get around this.

----------------------------------------------Begin Thread--------------------------------------------------------------
Based on current information, we know we need assign Manage Print permission to user to solve this problem.

When a user logs on to a terminal session, a redirected printer is created automatically and the system sets the printer permissions with default setting. By default, the connecting user only has Print and Manage Documents permissions. Unfortunately, there is no build-in way to customize or modify the default Print permission on the redirected printers automatically.

There is a tool named "setprinter.exe" tool in the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit. By using this tool, we can set the printer security settings. For example, we can use the command similar to the following to set the permission on the printer. If you are familiar with development, you can create a custom script or application to set the printer permission. You can configure this application to run as a user logon script so that the permission of the redirected printer can be set automatically.

Setprinter <PrinterName> 3 <Security Descriptor>

---------------------------------------------End Thread------------------------------------------------------------------

ok, so as far as I understand I need to create a custom script and put it in the logon user script so it runs each time they connect and will set the permissions for the printer.  Even if I do that does that mean now I need to log in and change the default every time the user logs in?  What's the best way to do this?  And what exactly would I put in the Security Descriptor?  I need some examples.

Hi,

We run an AD environment but only the admins ever remote desktop into any servers so the servers are configured in Administration mode. I am trying to configure timeouts for idle connections and also a maximum RD session length and all of the documentation I can find is related to "Remote Desktop Services Mode"

How can I configure timeouts for Remote Desktop Administration mode?

2008 r2 RDP Gateway and connection Broker on same or different server

$

Hi expert.

my boss wants me to setup a 2008 r2 TS gateway as well as setup a 2008 r2 TS connection broker.

the idea is to have users from the internet hit the TS gateway and then redirected to our 2008 R2 TS farm.

we currently have only 1 2008 r2 termainl server setup. I want to add a second 2008 r2 Terminal server and create a connection broker to provide some load balancing

My question is actually a design question

Should I put the TS gateway and the connection broker on the same server

or

should the TS broker be on a separate server

internet ..........> TS gateway.........>connection broker...............>TS or Session host server1 and Ts session host server2

or

internet..........> TS gateway & connection broker............>TS or session host server1 and TS session host server2

Also do I need a separate Connection brokers server or can I install connection broker and the 2nd session host server on the same server.

any info on the correct design would be appreciated..

thanks

RDS Farm and RDP 6.3.900 client issue "Internal error has occurred"

$

I have an issue that when users try to log in through the RDWEB to our published app or through the "Remote desktop tab" with RDP client 6.3.900  they will get an error "Internal error has occurred".

I have 3 RDSH in a farm configuration, 1 Broker and RDGateway/RDWEB.

Our fix right now has been to remove the following patches (kb2574819 and KB2592687) from the client machines.

All servers are fully patched, Windows server 2008 R2 Datacenter.

Any ideas? I am able to replicate the same issue with an identical setup on our dev environment.

RemoteApp - Pop-ups hidden behind main window

$

We are using RemoteApp in Windows Server 2012 to publish Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.

Sometimes when the user clicks on something inside the application that generates a popup of a new windows, this new window is opened behind the main windows. This causes confusion to the users.

I have found the following Kb articles/hotfixes that seem to describe the problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2580346
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2384602
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983533

However, all these hotfixes are applicable only to Windows 2008 (R2), and not Windows Server 2012.

Are there any updated hotfixes for 2012 somewhere?

Hi,

When Trying to access terminal servers getting an error " The remote session was disconnected because the Remote Desktop client access license stored on this computer has been modified".

For fixing this, I have tried deleting "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing" and logged in again to check if the registry recreated and did not find that.

Does anyone know the fix for this ?

Any help is much appreciated.
