On a windows 7 machine I'm trying to connect to a remote windows 2008 R2 server and get "Your Computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server's certificate has expired or has been revoked. Contact your network administrator for assistance." but only sometimes (and never when i'm looking at the desktop to troubleshoot).
When I've connected to the user machine, double clicked on the same rdp icon shortcut I have been able to connect an hour later so I don't think it's a locally installed client certificate error.
The certificate on the gateway server was purchased from Godaddy, is valid and expires Feb 2016.
I did find the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976484 that describes the symptoms but I do not have any 306 errors on the gateway server. I checked that netsh http show sslcert and the result for certificate store name was null. I downloaded the hotfix, attempted to install and got this hotfix is not applicable for this system.
If it makes any difference I am connecting to a farm of two terminal servers.
I'm not seeing any errors in the windows7 app, system or terminal server event logs or on the gateway server.
Any suggestions on where else to troubleshoot this issue?
