RD Session Host Connection Limit - User session Connections to SQL Server

Hi, Recently we have built several powerful physical servers as RD Session Hosts servers. An average day will see 160+ users connecting to each of these RD Session Host servers.

The majority of the time all applications installed on these servers behave ok. We have had to apply a few registry keys for SMB due to the amount of connections that are being made from each RDSH server.

However we also have an in-house system that connects to one of several SQL servers. The problem we are seeing is that when a user performs a particular function within the in-house application it can take upto 20 minutes to process. If the same user logs into the same server with only three users connected, the process is immediate.

Therefore I am interested to know whether there are SQL connection limitations from a Windows 2008 R2 RDSH server.

The servers are Windows 2008 R2 SP1 - Datacenter Edition.

Just to recap we think this is due to the number of users connected to the RDSH server, but don't know what the magic number of connected users is before the delays start happening.

I was wondering f there were any registry keys that we could look at changing or anything else we can do to increase the performance of the server when there are 160+ users connected.

Thanks.

Scott S.
