Hi folks,
I'm having a very strange issue. Two different infrastructures, similar setup, same issue.
The setup is: a remote desktop server (Windows 2012) using a remote desktop gateway (which is itself).
Clients connecting (via published remote applications) to those RDS server are using different types of clients, all Windows of course. Most (unfortunatly) are XP, W7 and a few W8.
The glitch is that sometimes (not always and very randomly based on many tests we did and only on XP and W7) windows pop behind others... Windows 8 users do NOT experience this behavior... So let me explain the glitch itself better...
For example the user will be in Outlook 2010. He hits "reply" to an email, sometimes the window will pop behind the main Outlook window, forcing him to click on the window behind to get the focus to it... It becomes very frustrating for users as sometimes you may have resized Outlook almost in full screen and then the reply shows behind forcing you to reduce Outlook or move it around to then be able see your email reply window... Sometimes the users even think the window never came up so they click 5 times until they realize that they have 6 windows open in the background...
XP clients have all been updated to use RDP v7.0 and regardless whether we update the W7 clients to RDP v8.0 or not, the behavior remains....
I put the microsoft links to upgrade the RDP clients just for informative purposes (replace _ with .)
RDP v7 for XP clients: support_microsoft_com/kb/969084
RDP v8 for W7 clients: support_microsoft_com/kb/2592687
Finally let me add this: It does not happen in Full remote or in console, it's definitely something with the remote apps and only on XP and W7 clients.
Many thanks in advance for your help!
