In our student association, we use diskless thin cliens with PXE-boot to start a Linux-image. Using rdesktop, we connect to our Terminal Server. With the upcoming and promising RemoteFX, we expect a lot of improvemens on the usage of Remote Desktop. However, RemoteFX requires the new RDP-client, which is not available for Linux.
Is there a possibility to PXE-boot Windows Embedded Standard (or any other Windows-version that supports RemoteFX) on a diskless thin client, with 512MB memory? Right now, we load a small part of the Linux-image, and additional files are accessed with NFS when needed. Is this kind of construction also possible for WES, by using SMB?
If this is possible, then my final question is: how are these Windows-installations activated? They only 'exist' as an image on the Netboot-server, or on runtime on the diskless thin clients, in memory. Do I have to activate every time I boot the client, or can I activate the image? And do I have to mention how much clients we use with that image?
