A little background on the setup.
The new network consists of 2 dell poweredge 420's with 96gb of memory, dual quad core procs, 5 15k 600gb drives in a RAID5 for the VM's. 2 single 10k drives in a raid1 for the OS of the host.
Currently i have server 2012 r2 in production with a pooled VDI setup with 15 windows 7 ent desktops. This is all running on a single dell with all the roles and services on that single box. Not using HA due to it only being 15 desktops.
Here are my issues
1) Boot storms - Monday mornings are crazy....
2) DHCP & Time in the VM's
I originally had the user disks on the same physical disks as the VM's. I moved those over to our NAS to relieve some stress on the drives and put more on the network.
Come Monday morning when everyone goes to login they get 1 of 3 things.
1) An error stating that the DNS name doesnt match what IP the VM has currently picked up. It seems that every time the machine recreated or rolled back it changes the MAC address and breaks my DHCP spoke.
When i user trys to login, the host is looking for an old IP then what the VM is currently picking up from DHCP. How do i fix this?
2) They sometimes will get a time error that the time clocks dont match. They have to wait 15-30 minutes before they can get in.
3) How do i relief some stress on the drives and get these VM's spun up faster with no errors?
