VM:
Windows 8 Pro x86 RTM, all recent updates, ran Integration Services, ran %windir%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /generalize /oobe /shutdown
Server:
Windows 2012 RTM, Hyper-V with aforementioned VM template, RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker, and RD Virtualization Host. I ran the wizard to use the template to create two virtual desktop VMs, and collection. Ran Set-RDVirtualDesktopCollectionConfiguration –CustomRdpProperty "usbdevicestoredirect:s:*" to enable all USB device redirection. This system does not have a GPU as all online documentation says a GPU is not required in this version of Windows Server.
Client:
Windows 8 Pro x86 RTM, all recent updates
Domain Controller:
Group policy enabling RemoteFX is enabled and set to Administrators and Users
I use the./RDWeb URL to start the virtual desktop from pool icon within the web page. The RD client pops up and I unclick everything except “Other supported RemoteFX USB devices”. I click Connect . I connect. I go to device manager inside the VM I just connected to. No USB devices, such as biometric or webcam, display in device manager. There is nothing in any machine’s event logs to suggest a problem with USB Redirection.
What am I doing wrong?
