Hi ,
sorry for the long title , but I've checked previous discussions but I've not found a specific response to my situation.
I've two farm of TS Servers host that works with Citrix; the old one are 2003 SP1 TServers and the new one are 2008 R2 TS servers .
The first group of TS 2003 server discover TSL server in a Enterprise scope, the second group of 2008 TS Server found the 2008 TSL installed as Domain scope by GPO definition .
The terminal client PCs that are used to connect to Citrix applications - on boths farm - are the same.
TS 2003 host servers are in the same AD site as in the same domain of the TS 2008 r2 Host Servers.
In this contexthappensthat :
if I was connect to a Citrix application that works on 2008 TS Host the client received a TS CAL licence from 2008 TLS (as right ), but after that if I connect to a old citrix application that require 2003 TS hosts I continue to use the 2008 cal licence( temporary or permanent ) without make use of the 2003 CALs on the windows TLS( that are two DCs) .
I can check by TSTts.exe on the client, as taking a look at licence server manager the licence list that are in use.
I sholud expect that - even the client show a right licence ( 2008 RDS TS licence allow 2003 TS ) just cause it's a 2003 TS hostand the CAL type is not a A02-5.00 a new request could be tried to get a CAL licence from the 2003 TSL or at last do thiswhen the license must be renewed.
In that way I could preserve some 2008 TS licence that I need for 2008 TS , but I 've not found asolution .
So my question is if the only possibility to handle this situation is to transfer the 2003 TS device CAL to the 2008 R2 TLS .
For that I need to make a phone call and do some work .. butif there are nosolutions and no costI will do .
Thanks for your advise or best practice,
Onorato.
