RemoteFX on 2012 R2 Session Host

I have a Windows 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Session Host, and am connecting to it with a windows 8.1 client. In the event viewer Under "RemoteDesktopServices-RDPCoreTS" I see the event ID 258 "This connection is not using the advanced RemoteFX RemoteApp graphics" . Does that mean I am not using remoteFX on the client, I am not connection to a remote App, I am just connection as a remote desktop session. If not how can I enable a remoteFX connection, or confirm I am using remoteFX on the session host.
