Hey Everyone,
I am new relatively new to RDS and I have a client, medical practice, that needs to replace about 10 XP machines by April and another 5-10 machines within the year. They currently have a fresh SBS 2011 Standard server in which user's desktop and documents are redirected, no other data needs to be stored in the user profiles. with that being said I was thinking about a RDS server with thin clients to replace the desktops. They only use the internet and maybe some office docs, and email is through OWA.
What would be your recommendations be for server hardware? Here were my thoughts:
-Server 2008 R2 or 2012 with appropriate number of RDS CALS
-Single Xeon Quad Core (Haswell)
-32GB RAM
-6 Enterprise SSDs in RAID 10 or would 6 WD RE4 drives be better
-2 Intel NICS Teamed for better bandwidth
Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.
