So i'm trying to setup a lab server that has Remote Desktop Virtualization Host on a stand-alone box using the Quick Start in which it appears to be designed for that specific purpose. I wanted to do it with just one host (2 x 8-core cpu's, 384gb of ram, and local hard drive space) but i setup a desktop with Windows 8, enabled Hyper-V on it and have my lab Domain Controller on that machine just sitting as a DC, DNS, and DHCP not connected to the internet. Lab is just an 8-port switch, server, desktop with hyper-v, and a couple of thin clients to connect to potential virtual desktop
When i tried to install Hyper-V, setup the DC then imported in the DC i already had created , then install RDVH on the host (Which requires the host to be a part of the domain) It didn't work and wouldn't even install RDVH so now i have it on a separate box just to eliminate an issue of RDS not liking having hyper-v already enabled before setting it up as the RDS Quick Start Install enables Hyper-V already.
I have a Windows 8 VM created and sysprepped using Generalize as recommended by documentation. I have my template as a dynamic disk but i read it shouldn't have any affect as i thought about created a fixed disk.
So with that being said it installs the:
Remote Desktop Services role services (Succeeded)
Virtual desktop template (Succeeded)
Virtual desktop collection (In Progress and hangs at Creating the virtual deskop collection) Eventually fails and nothing really descriptive in the event logs.
any ideas?
