We have multiple sites in different physical geo locations. I've setup a 2008 R2 Sp1 server as a Remote Desktop licensing server. I activated it and all our RD User CALs showed up; our onsite RDS servers point to it, and when users log in I can do a report and see that they're using the licenses properly. So...all is well at this site.
Next, we are building RDS servers at other locations. A couple questions:
1. If we just point the remote-site RDS servers to this licensing server, will that suffice? If so, what about if the WAN link goes down? How often do RDS servers check the licensing server?
2. Due to some nervousness about our WAN link, would it be better to create a licensing server at the remote location(s)? If so, will licensing break if we activate multiple servers using the exact same agreement numbers?
3. Or, is there a way to replicate this licensing server, rather than activating it multiple times?
