Hi, I have a windows server 2008, Some applications are running on that server. Sometimes my domain users are facing access denied. But I can able to login with local administrator's account. Once I restarted the server my domain users are able to login. Everytime I did a restart to fix this issue. Could you please give me a permanent solution for this.

Change published FQDN for Server 2012 or 2012 R2 RDS Deployment - issue
We ended up using the powershell script here https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80 to re-publish the FQDN of the server. Also changed the DNS so the FQDN pointed internally.
I think this script must have set the FQDN in a part of the config that had never been specified before, causing the RD Gateway to refer to itself by its FQDN to hand off requests. These requests failed at our firewall because we only allow port 80, 443 , 3391 through.
We don't have the option to add port 3389 to the loopback rule on the firewall and we don't want to open 3389 either, otherwise this would resolve the problem immediately.
Is there another way we can resolve? maybe changing the code and reversing the hand off requested.
Thanks
Chris
Error ID 44 - "ESE error -1316 JET_errInvalidObject"
Good day together,
till now i did not find any solution which could help.

In this post: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/5a5b0197-01f4-4cda-b189-d14d8cd0e2cb/terminal-server-licensing-event-id-44?forum=winserverTS&prof=required the only solution was the rebuild of the database and to check the permission on the lserver folder.
This two solutions were also mentioned at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee891072(v=ws.10).aspx but didn´t helped to solve the problem!
The exception is that the problem did not appear periodically but always in the same timerange. Perhaps any service which uses the licenses and therefore the message: object invalid for operation?
Did any one got a suggestion how to solve it?
Please do not post a referral of the technet article (ID 44).
Grace period key keeps expiring
I have quite a few Server 2012 RDS Servers running and every so often no one can login due to a licensing issue. The fix is to delete the Grace Period registry key. I'm sure this shouldn't keep happening. My research tells me that if I set the mode to per user and make sure the server is pointing to itself for its licensing this should work but we do still keep getting the error every 120 days. It seems like a bug but all servers are fully patched. Would anyone know a permanent fix?
Thanks

Launching Remote desktop combined with Tricerat Printer redirect software issue
We had to recently upgrade an application server to at least 2008 in order to maintain Microsoft update support. This server hosts an application that is served up using IIS. This website landing page is extremely basic, a few links to documents and a "Click here to Connect". If it's your first time going there, there is an active X control that prompts the user to install the Tricerat driver. After that, you click to connect and a Remote Desktop session is established with the application server, log in and check your printers and none of your network printers will be redirected. It is broken.
However, if you simple start Remote Desktop session from a Windows 7 machine directly and connect to the same application server, all of the printers are correctly redirected and work perfectly. It works.
How can I get the Internet Explorer session to work the same way? I have tried several IE versions, settings, etc. etc. It is like the server is launching a different version of RDS? Maybe a 32 bit version verses 64? How in the HTML coding can I get it to launch the correct version?
Currently in the source of the landing page is:
<div id=connectArea style="display: none">
<center>
<table>
<tr>
<OBJECT language="vbscript" ID="MsRdpClient"
onerror="OnControlLoadError"
onreadystatechange="OnControlLoad"

CODEBASE="msrdp.cab#version=5,2,3790,0"
WIDTH=<% resWidth = Request.QueryString("rW")
if resWidth < 200 or resWidth > 1600 then
resWidth = 800
end if
Response.Write resWidth %>
HEIGHT=<% resHeight = Request.QueryString("rH")
if resHeight < 200 or resHeight > 1200 then
resHeight = 600
end if
Response.Write resHeight %>>
</OBJECT>
</tr>
<tr>
<br>
<font size="1" color="#000000" id="srvfontname" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">
<div id=connectDisplay style="display:none">
<ID id=loggedinsrv>Connected to </ID><i><span id="srvNameField"></span></i></font><br></div>

<OBJECT ID="v4 RDP Only Client (nstl chk)" CLASSID="clsid:050A3800-6C03-48a5-A6D7-14CCF18A700D"
CODEBASE="v4rdpchk.cab#version=-1,-1,-1,-1">
</OBJECT>
Any assistance on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated. Tricerat only supports their printing through RDS, which works directly and was not able to assist me via the landing webpage. I am stuck.
Grid K2 RemoteFX available until reboot
I am running Windows Server 2012 R2 VDI. I have three VDI hosts. That is all working correctly.
However when I install the NVIDIA driver I can select the GPU within Hyper Manager.
When I reboot the servers the GPU disappears from Hyper V manager, even though the driver is still present in Device manager.
I am using NVIDA driver 10.18.13.6191
Can Any one help me please?
Remote Session is terminating after locking
Hi Friends,
I have a doubt about the RDP session as below.
User run performance tests fromWindows Server 2012 Datacenter . When running long tests (multi-hours to 1 day), the remote desktop session terminates -losing/corrupting the data from the Loadrunner session. When user disconnect, the message says the session will continue to run but when User log in a few hours to check the test - the session is no longer running.
Is there any particular reason for it? Is it normal behaviour of OS or it is an issue?

Connection Broker Failover
2012 R2 Installation.
HA with two Connection Broker, CB-1 and CB-2.
CB-2, Terminal-Session Broker logs
The Remote Desktop Connection Broker server detected that the database is not available and will notify all Remote Desktop Connection Broker plug-ins.
Setting the server CB-2 as activemanagement server is working and Get-RDConnectionBrokerHighAvailability
output
shows the right information.
If i shutdown CB-1, manament is working but noone can connect to any session host.

Remote App - Prevent Saving to RDSH Drives - Hide Warning Message "the operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect..."
Hi all,
We're planning on granting access to one of our applications to our customers via Remote App. Obviously we don't want them saving anything from the Remote App onto the RD Session Host Server so we've set group policies to hide/deny access to the drives:
User Configuration - Policies - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - File Explorer:
Hide these specified drives in My Computer (Enabled - all drives)
Prevent access to drive from My Computer (Enabled - all drives)
This seems to work well enough. However, every time a user clicks on Save/Save As.. for a report within the Remote App, it pops up with a warning which says
"The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer hide message. Please contact your administrator"
Once you OK this message it goes to the Windows Explorer Save window, showing the Libraries (which we will hopefully hide) and the 'Devices and Drives' (e.g. "C on Desktop01" - which is where we actually want the user to save the Remote App reports. So my question is, can we:
1] Suppress the warning message?
OR
2] Set the default save location to be whatever happens to be listed under 'Devices and Drives'?
Thanks for any advice/help!
Clicking a Desktop icon in RDWeb logs you directlyinto the broker
I have several desktop collections. Intermittently, users will click their appropriate desktop and instead of the desktop launching, they get a remote session directly on the broker.
I applied all RDS updates to the brokers and it did not help. The users are able to RDP directly to the desktops.
I have also tested connectivity and resolution using ping from the brokers to the session hosts and vice versa.
The system is 2012 R2 RDS with two brokers in HA configuration and has been in production for about a year.
It is configured to bypass the gateway for internal connections. The web gateway and RD gateway roles are on a separate server from the broker.
The VDI Session Hosts are 4 physical servers in a Hyper-V cluster.
I will occaisionally (but not always) get the following error when redirection fails:
I don't see any errors on the Session Hosts.
RD Web logoff but application still online
I have a RDweb for users to connect to the applications and SQL management studio from external internet.
Users will connect to the web, use applications, the web page will be logoff but users will still onlien with the applicarion.
But when user want to lonog the web use other applications, thay can't because of the session connect with the current application. Is there a way to avoid this?
The server is Server 2012RDS 2012: icons gone
Hi,
I have setup a LAB RDS 2012 Remote app.
However the icons of the applications are not there (also never were, not even when publishing a remote app).
Please advise.

server 2012 R2 Start Screen Layout GPO not updating
We have a Citrix xendesktop using 2012 R2 shared desktops. I was able to use the GPO setting to specify a start screen layout file. However, once that was done, it is not letting me update the start screen. I created a new xml file and pointed the GPO to the new file, but when the users log in, their start screen does not change.
I am not sure what I am missing.
Thanks

Configure each collection to point to different gateway server while using DUO MFA on one gateway
In remote desktop services 2012R2 is it possible to have one collection point to gateway A and a second collection point to gateway B? I see the gateway setting under "Collections--> Edit Deployment Properties" but that seems to apply to the entire deployment not the specific collection.
I'm currently using DUO MFA authentication on gateway A. Using DUO disables the NAP policy on gateway A. All applications are protected. I'm interested in protecting certain applications with MFA which would route through gateway A.
The basic applications would be accessed through gateway B without multi-factor authentication. The desire is for this to be automatic without and end user specifying the gateway in their RDP settings. Users will be launching applications primarily
through the web portal.
I'm interested in how this would work with a pure Microsoft implementation as well as any suggestions for configuration with DUO currently installed. I've searched the DUO knowledge base without success. Thanks!
Update cycle for RemoteApp Start Menu Icons - RDS
I am using an Active Directory login script to deploy RemoteApp icons to the start menu of a RemoteApp user. When ever I make changes a RemoteApp Program (add/remove) within the RemoteApp Manager in RDS these changes do not propagate to the RemoteApp list within a users start menu.
What options do I have to ensure that at some point any RemoteApp changes propagate to the end user? It would be nice if this is something that would be updated every time a user re-logged into their session.
Thanks.
On-Screen Keyboard
Hi,
We are running several RDS 2012R2 servers and some users need to use the on-screen keyboard.
I've created a tile linked to OSK.exe and they can also use the search field on the right-hand side to type and search for OSK.
On all servers users will get the error: On-screen Keyboard does not work any more / Cannot start on-screen keyboard
When an administrator starts the osk it works fine.
How can we make sure users can use the OSK?

VirtualChannelInit stuck
Hello!
I'm creating client dll for virtual channel. And I got stuck in the beginning.
HANDLE ClientHandle= NULL; CHANNEL_DEF pChannel[1]; CHANNEL_ENTRY_POINTS SavedEntryPoints; PCHANNEL_INIT_EVENT_FN pChannelInitEventProc; BOOL VCAPITYPE VirtualChannelEntry(PCHANNEL_ENTRY_POINTS pEntryPoints){ ofstream myfile; myfile.open ("D:\\Projects\\bench_cli\\ConsoleApplication1\\Release\\example.txt"); myfile <<"Writing this to a file.\n"; UINT retval1 =0;ZeroMemory(&pChannel[0],sizeof(CHANNEL_DEF)); strcpy(pChannel[0].name,"Bench"); pChannel[0].options = CHANNEL_OPTION_ENCRYPT_RDP | CHANNEL_OPTION_COMPRESS_RDP; pChannelInitEventProc =VirtualChannelInitEvent; memcpy(&SavedEntryPoints, pEntryPoints,sizeof(CHANNEL_ENTRY_POINTS)); myfile <<" copied"<< endl;// call VirtualChannelInit using the function pointer in// PCHANNEL_ENTRY_POINTS myfile <<"Initing"<< endl; retval1 = pEntryPoints->pVirtualChannelInit (&ClientHandle, pChannel,1, VIRTUAL_CHANNEL_VERSION_WIN2000, pChannelInitEventProc); myfile <<" init"<< endl; myfile.close();return TRUE;}
VOID VCAPITYPE VirtualChannelInitEvent( LPVOID pInitHandle, UINT event, LPVOID pData, UINT dataLength)
{
...
}
On pEntryPoints->pVirtualChannelInit dll stucks, it doesn't return any error code, so I never get string "init" printed.
Debugger show that addresses in pEntryPoints are like that:
pVirtualChannelInit - 0x00000004
pVirtualChannelOpen - 0x0000ffff
pVirtualChannelClose - 0x000000b8
pVirtualChannelWrite - 0x00000000
if I go with Debugger, and do not just stop on pVirtualChannelInit, then I can see that VirtualChannelEntry called twice.
RDP session works after this. What am I doing wrong?
Unable to copy & paste files using remote desktop connection from source computer to destination
Hi All,
I have this issue.
I am using a Windows server 2008 SP2 machine from which i am trying to remote desktop a Windows server 2012 R2 machine.
I am able to RDP the machine but i am unable to copy & paste the files as in the below screenshot.
When i paste the file the paste option is grayed out.
When i initiate the Remote desktop connection i checked all the options in the Resources TAB:
Also the connection quality is set to LAN 10Mbps or Higher.
I also tried killing the rdpclip process in the destination server which i am taking the remote desktop connection and restarted the process but still no luck.
Can any one tell me how do i fix the issue.

Windows 10 and RDS 2012 - RemoteAPP Window Invisible
I have a RDS 2012 R2 setup that I connect clients to through the RDWeb URL. 99% of my clients are Windows 7, and the app we are using has a logon window that would be invisible when the users launched the app. I figured out that if I uninstalled KB2830477, then the logon window would become visible to my windows 7 users. So I removed the KB on all my clients, and everything was happy.
Now, I'm starting to get some Windows 10 clients, and they are having the exact same issue. The app launches fine, but the logon window is invisible. You can actually click where the username/password is supposed to be entered, and enter your credentials (this was also how it was for win7 clients until I removed the KB), and then login and everything seems to work fine. But the initial window is invisible. I have tried removing any Windows 10 updates, but this does not seem to fix the problem. Any ideas on a fix for this?
