2012 R2 RDS farm. This has worked well for a couple of years. Recently, i was tasked with building a basic 2 node hyper-v cluster with shared storage. After i built the cluster, i commenced to moving VM's to the new cluster. The move happened w/o problems
for all VM's. When i perform a planned failover, the failover happens correctly but when using RDS, you receive "the rd broker can not be found...". I live migrate the broker VM back to its original hyper-v host and you can connect to the RDS farm.
Can the broker be in a hyper-v cluster?

RDS VDI using Azure VMs - Not able to communicate between connection broker server and the hyper-v VMs
I have created a VDI setup in Azure VMs. I have created a NAT network in the RDVH server , so as to hyper V Vms to be joined to the domain. But after the virtual desktop collection creation step, I am not able to publish remote app as I am getting an error"unable to retrieve remoteapp programs for the start menu" .ie from the Hyper V VM created in the collection. Please let me know how to resolve this.

Give access to single local folder via remote desktop
We have an application which our clients run via Remote App. We would like to give the app restricted access to a specific folder on the clients local drive. Is there anyway to do that? As far as I can tell, you can give access to an entire drive, but but a folder in that drive.
For example, we would like our application to have access to an application specific folder in the users "My Documents" folder, but not to any of the other folders. The reason we want to do this is that we are providing our application to clients who are not part of our organization. We would like our app to be able to save files to their local drives, but do not want to ask them to give our application access to their entire C: drive.
Are there solutions to this problem that we haven't thought of? Right now, the way we deal with it is to have our application send them files via email, which isn't ideal.

Updated cert for all things RDS 2012R2 but occasionally a client is getting old cert when launching published app
I renewed and replaced our wildcard cert on our 2 RDS GW servers, and our 5 RDS Web hosts. the new cert looks to be correctly installed in all places, yet a few users are still getting a cert error (old expired cert) when they launch a published application.
I went to IIS bindings and made sure the new cert is bound to all servers running IIS and made sure the old cert was deleted on all RDS servers via Certificate Management. Where else can I look to find this sneaky old cert that is being cached somewhere?

RD Connection Broker don`t see users on different hosts
Hi all, the following problem has arisen...
From time to time, the connection broker (on server 2016) don`t see sessions on different hosts, and when it comes we have connection problems, but if you restart the host which sessions don`t see the connection broker then after reboot host the broker again sees them.
Tell me how to overcome this problem.

Enabling multiple users to access windows server 2012 R2
I have windows server 2012 R2 installed on my machine.
For now, the server only allows up to 2 users to access the server through Remote Desktop Service.
If I want increase the number of users simultaneously accessing the server is "Windows Server 2016 Remote Desktop Services 1-User Cal" the product I need to buy?

rds cals missconfigured ?
Hi,
I have a Windows Server 2012 R2, with and installed downgraded version of 2016 User RDS cal (1 user)
We have an application that should use this RDS, but not sure if that's configured correct.
But to me it seems that there is some kind of wrong configuration with the RDS, or missing cals ?
Because when I try to connect with our software I get an error "The server denied the access"

VDI with Wyse 3040 boxes - RD connection broker sign-on failed
We are running MS VDI on a server 2016. Periodically we are not able to log into the personal Virtual PC's (VPC) and get the error RD Connection broker sign-on failed. Rebooting the server or the Wyse 3040 boxes do not fix the issue. We can log into the VPC's with remote desktop from a different PC. Today I got this fixed by re-installing the same cert over again in RDS certificates for RD Connection Broker -Enable Single Sign on, RD Connection Broker - Publishing, RD Web Access, and RD Gateway.
What could be causing this I'm not seeing any errors related to it in the event viewer ad restarting the services or rebooting does not work. We were down once for 6 hours until I stumbled across doing this and it came up, luckily this time it was a few minutes.

An Authentication Error has occurred (Code: 0x800004005)
Hi Everyone,
When making NLA based RDP connection to Windows Server 2008 R2 member server ( RD Session Host without any license server etc), I am getting an error An Authentication Error has occurred (Code: 0x800004005). It happened for no reason, i.e. no configuration changes at all. It registers no event ID inside Application and System event log. RDP without NLA is fine.
Let me know if someone managed to resolve similar issue?

RDP connections stop working
Server 2008r2 with all the updates - or not (a number of them have this issue)
TS Server will stop accepting new RDP connections - existing ones are not affected.

Azure MFA only for external users coming from RD Gateway and no MFA for internal Users

Thanks in advance, I've configured RDS environment with session host, web access, connection broker and a RD gateway server.
I've enabled MFA calling through Azure MFA Server using the below link which Microsoft suggests. But I wanted MFA calling for external users and not when users coming from internal IPs.
In MFA console we have trusted IPs tab where we have to put in the users IP or IP range, but here as the authentication is sent by the RD gateway server everything is ignored by the MFA server and for internal users as well I'm getting MFA Calling.
Has anybody tried it before? This cannot be achieved through Azure MFA but can be achieved through NPS policies but unable to achieve it.

Server 2016 RDS connections maxing out and crashing dwm.exe?
We attempted a stress load on our server and found users unable to join. The RDS would blackscreen and drop. It happened after 8 users had joined. The performance also was dropping as each connection stacked and after we saw the Event Viewer had 450+ Critical Error 1000 with dwm.exe dwmcore.dll crashing.

RemoteApp on Windows 2016 VM Server on Azure
We are looking to move our current hosted solution to Azure.
Our current solution in the cloud consists of three Windows 2008 R2 VM’s in a workgroup One SQL Server VM – heavily dependent on SQL Database Mail and SQL Scheduled Jobs , One Web Server VM, One RDP server that uses RemoteApp to distribute a Windows Client application after connecting to a VPN. We also use the RDP server to run several windows applications (windows service and scheduled task). I had originally posted to the Azure VM forum and was referred to this forum for RDP issues.
With Windows 2008 R2 server I was easily able to create RemoteApp. .rdp files (without RDWeb) for our Windows application and use those .rdp files to distribute to our customers. The user accounts were created using Computer Management / Local Users / Groups.
From my understanding is that the functionality changed with Windows 2012 R2 and later. To be able to set up RemoteApp, the machine must be joined to a domain as this give you a setup UI to publish your application(RDWeb to create rdp file). This would mean two additional servers (domain controllers) and incur additional costs. The user accounts would then have to be created on the Azure DC Active directory. Is RemoteApp supported on a Windows 2016 workgroup VM in Azure without using RDWeb to publish the application? I found an article on the forum that talks about creating / editing your own rdp file and registry entries in lieu of a UI. I also found a third party application (RemoteApp Tool) which creates a .rdp file. Could we use those methods and still be supported by Microsoft? I also see there was a RemoteApp Service on Azure that is been now discontinued. It has been replaced with Citrix Virtual App Essentials. From my understanding, this too would require domain controllers at additional cost. Are there any better solutions to achieve our goal? Will we be able to set up a VPN connection for our customers to the RDP (RemoteApp) server on Azure with any of the solutions?

My list of collections in RDS is too long and I cannot scroll down as no scroll bar
I have setup a Remote Desktop Services Collection which has grown to a size which prevents me from scrolling down as there's no scroll bar displayed.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me with this, have I missed the obvious somewhere.
Can I create multiple Collections, not the actual units inside collections but actual Collections?

Upper Case and Lower case switching randomly
Hi all,
Since applying latest 1803 Windows 10 update and latest upgrade to solve back screen bug, a lot of my user tell me that on their rdp session, the keyboard switch randomly from upper to lower case and vice versa.
Before 1803 update no problem, they only comes after.
